Unit 2

Communications 12 Unit 2:

1.    Setting: Print the selection, Setting, read it carefully and make notes on the main ideas.
2.    Vocabulary: Print Antaeus Vocabulary Part 1 and complete the exercise.


3.    Antaeus: Print out and read Antaeus. (Available in the lab only) Practice using the active reader marks as you read the story. You may view a movie clip of the short story.

4.    Vocabulary: Print Antaeus Vocabulary Part 2 and complete the exercise.
5.    Antaeus: Answer Questions #1-5 at the end of the story. Remember to follow these guidelines for your answers:
a.    Write your answers in complete sentences including the question in the answer.
b.    Provide support for your answers from the story. Put the page number of the story where you found the support. You can quote from the story or explain in your own words. If you use a quotation from the story, use only the part that supports your answer. Do not use a long quotation.
c.    You will be marked for content and grammar.
d.    Hand in these questions to a teacher.
e.    Write on your assignment:
                              i.   Your full name
                             ii.   Your student number
                            iii.   The date
                            iv.   The name of the assignment.

9.    Novel Paper 1 
You will read a novel throughout the course and do five assignments as you read. Print Novel Paper 1 and complete the assignment. Your teacher will suggest a novel or you could bring a novel you would like to read. A teacher must approve your novel if you bring in your own.
Hand in Paper 1. Continue reading your novel.

10. Grammar #2-1 Complete the following and hand it in when you are finished. DO NOT do the exercises in the text!!!
Evergreen Writing book reference: Chapter 26 and 27.

Please correct the following sentences; you may add or subtract words.
1.    Although some students came late.
2.    Who studies English everyday.
3.    Drinking a coffee before breakfast.
4.    John and he goes to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
5.   Neither of the students have passed the test yet.

Hand in Grammar 2-1 to receive a mark.


11.  Grammar #2-2 Complete the following and hand it in when you are finished.      Use your Evergreen Writing book for a reference-Chapter 27.
